How do I add I-9 document type dropdown options to my Dynamic Files for counter-sign fields?

Dynamic Files & DocumentsDocument ConfigurationeDoc Suite/Dynamic FilesDropdown and Counter-Sign Field Setup

When setting up I-9 related Dynamic Files (such as applications, legal packets, or standalone I-9 forms), you may need dropdown fields populated with the official I-9 document type options so that the counter-signing party (typically an HR staff member or employer representative) can select the appropriate document type during verification.

The standard I-9 document types are organized into three lists:

List A (Documents that Establish Both Identity and Employment Authorization):

- U.S. Passport

- U.S. Passport Card

- Perm. Resident Card (Form I-551)

- Employment Auth. Document (Form I-766)

- Foreign Passport

- Alien Reg. Receipt Card (Form I-551)

- Receipt: Form I-94/I-94A w/I-551 stamp, photo

- Receipt: Foreign Passport w/Form I-94/I-94A

- Receipt: Replacement of List A document

List B (Documents that Establish Identity):

- Driver's License

- State ID Card

- School ID Card w/photo

- Voter Registration Card

- U.S. Military Card/Draft Record

- Military Dependent's ID Card

- U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document

- Native American Tribal Document

- Canadian Driver's License

- Receipt: Replacement of List B document

List C (Documents that Establish Employment Authorization):

- Social Security Card

- Birth Certificate

- Employment Auth. Document (DHS)

- List C #7

- Form FS-545

- Form DS-1350

- Form FS-240

- Form I-197

- Form I-179

- Receipt: Replacement SS Card

- Receipt: Replacement Birth Certificate

- Receipt: Replacement of List C document

Adding these dropdown options to counter-sign fields on a Dynamic File currently requires a request to Bolt HC Support. To submit your request:

1. Identify the specific Dynamic File (by name) that needs the dropdown fields.

2. Specify which I-9 list(s) and document types you need added (List A, List B, List C, or a combination).

3. Indicate that the dropdowns should be set as counter-sign fields (meaning they are completed by the agency-side signer, not the caregiver).

4. Submit a support request with this information.

Bolt Support will configure the dropdown options on your Dynamic File. You can request dropdowns for individual I-9 forms, full application packets, legal packets, or any other Dynamic File that includes I-9 verification sections. Multiple dropdown fields can be added to the same document (e.g., separate dropdowns for List A Document #1, List A Document #2, List B, and List C).
