How do I convert a free-text input field on the caregiver application into a dropdown menu with predefined options?

Converting a caregiver application input from a free-text field to a dropdown menu with specific options (e.g., eye color, hair color, reference relationship) requires a configuration change made by the Bolt HC support team. This is not currently a self-service action.

To request this change:

1. Identify the exact input field you want converted (e.g., "Eye Color," "Hair Color," "Reference 1 Relationship"). If the field appears under a conditional branch (e.g., under a specific "Applying For" selection like HHA/PCA or Nurse), note that as well so all relevant instances are updated.

2. Prepare the list of dropdown options you want available. Common examples include:

- Eye Color: Black, Blue, Brown, Grey, Green, Hazel

- Hair Color: Black, Brown, Grey, Red, Blonde, White, Bald

- Reference Relationship: Personal, Professional (or Friend, Family, Colleague, Supervisor, Manager)

3. Submit a support request to Bolt HC specifying:

- The exact field name and its location in the application workflow (including any conditional paths)

- The complete list of dropdown values in the order you want them displayed

- Whether the change should also populate onto any linked Dynamic Files (e.g., a specific page of a DCW Application form)

4. The Bolt HC team will configure the conversion and confirm once complete.

Why convert to dropdowns? Using dropdown menus instead of free-text fields ensures data consistency, reduces typos, and makes reporting and filtering more reliable. Dropdown values also populate correctly onto mapped Dynamic Files, ensuring printed or exported documents display standardized information.

Note: If the same field appears in multiple conditional branches of your application workflow (e.g., "Eye Color" under both HHA/PCA and Nurse application types), be sure to request the conversion for all instances so the experience is consistent across all application paths.
